This is a large and magnificent book. It contains a scholary text and an abundance of large beautiful color plates. The book is a truly a pleasure to browse, but also serves as the best serious one-volume monograph on Renoir found on the market today.

It is a certainly a lifetime keeper and is protected by a sturdy, illustrated slipcase/5(16). The second part of the book is a gallery of Renoir's work in glorious pictures, each accompanied by an in-depth analysis of its context within his life, his technique and his body of work as a whole.
